The Story of N271D:
Owner Gordon Ellis is a Lifetime Club member and long time supporter of the Cessna 150-152 Club. He obtained his private pilot license in October of 1960 at Laughlin AFB in Del Rio, Texas in a Cessna 150 that came off the assembly line just 106 airplanes in front of N271D.

Gordon and N271D were part of the Club five plane cross country formation to the club national fly-in at Clinton, Iowa from Colorado in the summer of 2001, returning in a three plane formation in the summer of 2002.

N271D is based in Cheyenne, Wyoming and has many STCs incorporated. Recent ones include the F&M spin on oil filter accomplished on a major overhaul, installation of the M-20 oil separator, and one of the first square tail C-150s to have the Micro Aerodynamics vortex generators. An earlier pair of STCs placed a Whelen Comet Strobe on the belly and another about three feet up on the upper fuselage. When these are fired together at night and bounce off the polished aluminum it makes for a huge light visible for many miles.

Avionics include an MX-300V, and King KY-97A  radios, a Narco transponder with encoder, and two portable Garmin GPS-92's. Current headsets are a Lightspeed 25XL and a David Clarke H10-80. It has both an EGT and a CHT gauges. Gordon has flown this plane 580 hours since he purchased it  in June of 1997.  In Gordon's Words "Every hour flown has increased the value of my life tremendously. What sweet little airplanes they are!!!"
